The 2009 International Astronomy Year and Extraterrestrial Life Forum was held from October 31 through November 16 at Dongfeng Plaza. GoKunming spoke on the sidelines of the forum with forum organizer Zhang Yifang (张一方), founder and former director of the Kunming UFO Research Association. We also spoke with Zhang’s wife and son.
The hotly tipped future talent of the minute is Federico Alvarez, a 30 year old Uruguyan behind the YouTube smash sci-fi short called Panic Attack – which you can see below the break. So far, Alvarez seems to be following a very similar racing line to the one Neill Blomkamp has roared around over the last few years.
Whereas Blomkamp’s breakthrough short was Alive in Joburg, a shaky-cam alien invasion picture set in South Africa, Alvarez has now made his crash landing with Panic Attack… a shaky-cam alien invasion picture set in Uruguay. The latter features rather more giant robots, however, which you may see as a very good thing.
Blomkamp’s protector/mentor in making the transition to feature length filmmaking was Peter Jackson, while Alvarez has in turn been taken under the wing of Sam Raimi. Apparently the two have already spoken at length and the expectation is that Raimi will help Alvarez make the transition to feature filmmaking without too much interference from suits and money men.

My dear friend Mac Tonnies has passed away. He was a wonderful person, and one of the bright young lights in paranormal research and thought. This is an excerpt from Radio Misterioso with our good pal Greg Bishop, from 2006, which we recorded live in the studio at killradio.org in Los Angeles while Mac and I were there filming Best Evidence: Top 10 UFO Sightings.
Tonight (11/01) Nick and filmmaker Paul Kimball will join me for a special edition of Radio Misterioso. As many of you may know, our friend and fellow writer Mac Tonnies passed away on October 18th. We will recall times spent with him and review some of his work as well as what we know about the release of his last book, tentatively titled The Cryptoterrestrials.
Paul and Nick have been in contact with Mac’s parents and will offer some information on Mac’s last days as well as the condition of his affairs. We will open up the phone line in the last segment of the program for anyone who wants to talk about Mac and how he affected them.

What do those freemasons over at NASA have in mind with this Friday’s bombing of the moon? The official reason for doing this is to help determine if there is water on the moon. I keep hearing about the existence of UFOs, ETs and bases on the moon. It is something I’m very interested in and have been thinking about lately. I’ve also been thinking about Freeman’s highlighting of 10/13/2009 as a date for a world changing event. Freeman has also talked about a coming space war. Today it hit me that it’s almost 10/13 and between now and then NASA will supposedly be crashing a spacecraft into the Cabeuscrater on the southern polar region of the moon. Cabeus A was the original destination for the impact and was formally announced by the LCROSS team on September 11, 2009, but then changed to Cabeus (proper). This could certainly result in a world changing event in the form of a retaliation strike against Earth, whether real or faked.
CORRECTION:Freeman highlighted 10/13/2008 as a date for a world changing event and not 10/13/2009. In focusing on the 10/13/2009 date it got me thinking about what could occur and then I started thinking through the possibilities based on what was happening in the news and I grabbed ahold of the LCROSS mission as something quite significant, and I connected Freeman’s notion of a coming space war with a possible problem-reaction-solution scenario coming from NASA’s moon bombing in which a real or faked retaliation strike could occur against earth which could lead to a perceived ET threat and all sorts of changes, for the worse no doubt, here on earth, which could certainly still happen despite my incorrect statement about the 10/13/09 date.
