Actor William H. Macy Opposes Fairness Doctrine for Radio Monday, May 18, 2009 By Nicholas Ballasy, Video Reporter
(CNSNews.com) - Academy Award-nominated actor William H. Macy told CNSNews.com that the government should not regulate talk radio so it is “balanced” — with some variant of a Fairness Doctrine or local ownership rules – because “this is America” and “you can say anything you want.” He also said the average American is “smarter than all the politicians.”
“Absolutely not. This is America. You can say anything you want,” Macy told CNSNews.com at the White House Correspondent’s dinner when asked whether the content of talk radio should be regulated by the government for political balance.
March 10, 2009 – Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus, currently also holding the European Union presidency, denounces global warming alarmism in a speech at Columbia University.
Klaus blames alarmists for misusing climate change information to try to expand the role of government.
He has written a book expressing doubts that climate change is man-made, and was in New York to attend a conference of climate change sceptics.

Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus:
“It’s a political, ideological debate. They want to change society, they don’t want to change climate. That’s quite clear.”
America’s small farmers are under attack through a series of bills presented under the guise of “food safety.” I don’t want to lose my freedom to grow, buy and eat real foods. Let’s fight for our small farmers who not only need our protection and support, but actual freeing from government intrusion, control and harm.
Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, making a guest appearance on ABCs The View, gave co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck a lesson or two about the torture technique known as waterboarding.
Ventura, who underwent a barrage of torture techniques at the military Survival, Evade, Resist and Escape (SERE) school, confirmed for Hasselbeck that waterboarding is torture and not just an enhanced interrogation technique.
If waterboarding is okay, why dont we let our police do it to suspects to learn what they know? he asked to a chorus of applause.
Thats an interesting question, Hasselbeck said. I understand that question.
If waterboarding is okay, why didnt we waterboard [Timothy] McVeigh and [Terry] Nichols, the Oklahoma City bombers, to find out if there were more people involved? Whats your answer to that? he asked. We only seem to waterboard Muslims.
Thats an extremist statement, said Hasselbeck.
Aha! cheered Ventura. Have we waterboarded anybody else? Name me someone else weve waterboarded.
She could not, instead shifting focus to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who has been criticized by Republicans for a seeming contradiction in disclosing what she knew about then-President Bushs torture program, and when.
They want her out because she lied? asked Ventura. Why didnt they ask for Bush and Cheney to go out when they lied about why we went into Iraq.
