This rare television spot featured one of the first big hits by local Austin band PONG (formerly the infamous Ed Hall), Blues Underground – a song that had lyrics such as, “The Knights of Templar, They Run The Game, They’ve Got The Money, And All The Fame, Long Ago Across The Sea, The Invented Monopoly!”

Former president Jimmy Carter isn't just suspicious that the US is using torture to extract intelligence from detainees — he's absolutely convinced.

Asked by CNN's Wolf Blitzer if, by Carter's definition of the word, the United States had used torture during the Bush administration, the Nobel Peace Prize winner was adamant:

"I don't think it, I know it," he said. "Certainly."

Pressed by Blitzer on whether that meant that President Bush was lying, Carter was equally clear.

"The president is self-defning what we have done and authorized in the torture of prisoners," said Carter."Yes."

Earlier in the interview, Carter said Bush's denial this week that the US did not in fact torture detainees was "not an accurate statement if you use the international norms of torture as has always been honored in the last 60 years, since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was promulgated."

"But you can make your own definition of human rights and say we don't violate them," he added, "and you can make your own defintion of torture and say we don't violate them."

Carter was equally outspoken in a Wednesday interview with the BBC, calling Vice President Dick Cheney a "disaster," according to Reuters.

"He's a militant who avoided any service of his own in the military," he said of Cheney, adding that the vice president "has been most forceful in the last 10 years or more in fulfilling some of his more ancient commitments that the United States has a right to inject its power through military means in other parts of the world."

"You know he's been a disaster for our country," Carter continued. "I think he's been overly persuasive on President George Bush and quite often he's prevailed."

In a disturbing audio clip, Ed Brown speaks for the first time since his arrest and relates how he was gassed by noxious fumes for three days in a detention center as well as being put in a deprivation tank for 15 hours.

Shaun Kranish of MaketheStand.com was able to call the Ohio prison that Brown has been incarcerated in and talk with him on the phone for 10 minutes.

Sensory deprivation is a form of torture and extended deprivation can result in extreme anxiety, hallucinations, bizarre thoughts, depression, and antisocial behavior.

Brown also said he had been prevented from making any phone calls or receiving mail.

For the first time, Brown reveals what happened when he was tricked and arrested by U.S. Marshals, including how he was tasered multiple times.

Brown said that he had a chance to fight back during the arrest but that he did not want to hurt anyone.

Brown said his captors were treating him with "professional cruelty" and mentioned that they had also done harrowing things to his wife following her arrest, but refused to go into detail.

"I guess Ed and Elaine Brown, the elderly couple, really rattled their cages, we must be a real terror to the federal government, the corporate structure," said Brown.

Following our article about Ed Brown supporters fearing Brown was being mistreated or tortured, U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier dismissed it, saying, "That's absolutely ludicrous."

If what Ed Brown relates in the audio clip is true, it's abundantly clear that he is being cruelly mistreated.

Out Of Control School Security Guard Assaults Camerawoman

More out of control school security guards have been accused of assaulting children and also the media, as a camerawoman who wasn't even on school property had her equipment shoved in her face by an aggressive guard during filming.

Action 10 News were investigating reports of guards and police beating children at a school in Robstown, Corpus Christi.

The film crew were not even on school property as they recorded shots of the building before a security guard walked up and forcefully shoved the camera in video journalist Brandy Dunfee's face.

Action 10 News have now filed a police report regarding the assault.

"If he's willing to do that to me for the world to see on camera, then what is he willing to do when no one is looking," said Dunfee.

Allegations of police and security guards beating up students in the school have been met with a wall of silence from school authorities who have refused to talk to Action 10 News.

Last week, a video showing a school security guard arresting and breaking a girl's arm for dropping cake made national headlines.

The last couple of months have produced an epidemic of police and security guard brutality which seems to be spiraling out of control as cops are trained that the public is their enemy.

Marshals Investigate Potential Threats To The Nation

Satire became reality Friday afternoon when half a dozen armed federal agents wearing body armor showed up at this author's home and detained everyone in the house for nearly 90 minutes to determine who might pose a threat to the government. Marshal John Bolen of the U.S. Marshals Office of Protective Intelligence traveled to Manchester, N.H., to investigate threats of violence allegedly made against Steven McAuliffe, a federal judge in the district court in Concord, and other federal officials in the area. He brought along with him other marshals and agents who would only say that they were with the Treasury Department.   Full Story
